Gyrodata was formed in 1980 with funding from several major oil companies who had a critical need for more precise wellbore survey technology. By 1982, using the same sensors as those used in advanced aerospace guidance systems, Gyrodata had developed a means to increase survey accuracy tenfold.

Gyrodata's precision survey services have had a major impact on drilling and production operations. High accuracy surveys assure precise wellbore targeting and reservoir delineation, and they prevent costly problems such as missed objectives and wellbore collisions in multiwell structures.

Today, Gyrodata is the leading supplier of precision wellbore survey services to the energy, mining, environmental and construction industries. The company has over 900 employees and multiple offices located strategically throughout the world.

State of the art guidance system manufacturing and testing facilities are located in Houston, Texas and Aberdeen, Scotland.
